You want your feed to get to the bottom. I would use a method mix and mix it up quite stodgy so it stays on. The method is an effective method for bream but as I recall it was developed to catch Carp that would attack the feeder for food rather than eat the hookbait some distance from the feeder. Some enterprising chap decided to hide his bait in the actual feeder to fool the fish. Pellets can be used on the float, but it’s with a feeder that they work best, fished on a Method feeder or in an open-end where a mixture of micros, 4mm and 6mm halibut pellets are mixed with a little fishmeal groundbait, finished off with a hair-rigged 10mm or 12mm halibut pellet hookbait. Personally, I prefer fishing commercials in winter on a cage feeder but it doesn’t seem like a popular method, indeed the places I fish are not typical feeder venues. If I was going to fish them in summer I’d be more inclined to float fish them.
